| - I normally don't comment on other people's reviews when writing my own review but after shopping here I think the biker chick and axe murderer community will be disappointed that girls shopping here won't instantly join their ranks (Then again that review was from 2007 so maybe this store has had a change of heart since then). The mood here channels maybe skater or alt rock fashion. Journeys is a subsidiary of Genesco Inc. who also owns Johnston and Murphy, Lids and Dockers. As for the merchandise, some brands they sell are Addidas, Converse, Doc Martens, Timberland, and Toms. I also saw a lot of various backpacks on the walls for sale (For hiding your axes of course). Journeys is also involved with the Vans Warped Tour and after looking at their website it seems like they make a dedicated effort to give back to the community. Store managers are given 8 hours of paid time to volunteer at a non profit per year, and the company is a sponsor of DECA which from their website, "... Prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe."
This is one of the few brick and mortar stores that sells Toms. A few months ago I broke down and bought a few pairs that were on sale online. I always thought of them as mummy footwear because of the way they are designed with the fabric wrapping around the shoe. They are super comfy though and great for walking around. My dad saw my pair and wanted some. "I want those Kung Fu shoes!" he exclaimed to me on our last family dinner. Tbd if wearing them will channel his inner Neo from The Matrix so that at our next outing he will tell me in monotone "....I know Kung Fu". Related: he does take many pills every day but also TBD if any of them are blue or red. Go figure I had to go to a store in the mall geared towards teens and early 20-somethings to get shoes for my dad who is approaching octogenarian status.
It was easy looking at their selection online and to see if the certain shoe I wanted was in stock. The store itself is pretty small and they stack as much merchandise as they can in here. Service was friendly and efficient and they offer regular printed receipt, online receipt and gift receipts. They also have a very generous return policy and will allow returns up to 365 days from purchase if the item is still in new/unworn condition with receipt.
If my dad does decide to become (At best) a biker chick or (At worst) an axe murderer after wearing these shoes I bought though don't worry, I'll be sure to update my review.
