I have been practicing bikram yoga for 4 years now and have tried a couple of different studios in the Pittsburgh area. This one is by far my least favorite. It has a "yoga at the Y" feel to me. The classroom is not very intimate and they crammed way too many people in it. My major gripes were:
1) carpeted classroom. This is so gross. There's no way to clean the sweat from classes past and the carpet STINKS. The classroom just felt dirty.
2) the shoe drop off at the door skeeved me out because you have to go into the locker room/bathroom in bare feet. Foot fungus, anyone?
3) the lobby area is crammed and I felt in the way at all times.
4) the instructor spoke way too fast, like auctioneer fast.
5) I did not like the Lamaze-type huffing and puffing at the end of class. This acted to raise my heart rate rather than relax after a long practice.
6) I know it's hot, but how about some
modesty, people? I do not need to see your privates in the flesh...literally.
7) even after 90 minutes, I didn't feel like I had a very intense workout.
All in all, the class was ok and not bad with the unlimited classes for 2 weeks for $20. If you are just starting out, this may be a good class for you.
