Hello #400 Yelp Review! I've been saving Price's for this momentous occasion. Price's has been a Charlotte institution since as far back as I remember. It wasn't long after my family moved here in 1996 for us to discover the city's best Mom and Pop fried chicken joint. I've actually never been inside the store since someone else usually orders and picks up the chicken for me but I can imagine that the line can get long at peak dining hours. The food is well worth the wait.
First off, the entire menu fits on the top of the take out box. You know they mean business since they offer just a few things but execute each and every one of those menu items well. The dinners are a complete meal with the main entree accompanied by crinkle fries, two hushpuppies, coleslaw, and a roll. Everything is made with 100% peanut oil and 100% love. The fries are crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside like those fries I used to get from the elementary school cafeteria. The hushpuppies are balls of fried perfection. The slaw has the perfect balance of vinegar and mayo, not too runny either. The fried chicken is out of this world. Well seasoned and crispy skin encasing succulent, juicy, and tender meat. It's been awhile since I've had it so when we ordered it the other week I was temporarily transported back to fried chicken heaven. My parents love their gizzards.
We used to only get Price's on specially occasions and settle for Bojangles the rest of the time, but now my brother lives within walking distance from it. In fact you can see Price's from the entrance of his condo building. So dangerous but so convenient so we can scope out the line before heading over.
