| - What can you say about a place that make a dream come true. In February, we were visiting Phoenix, AZ for the birth of our newest family member. Enroute to a car dealership, our grand-niece caught a glimpse of an establishment selling formal gowns. Knowing that her prom was coming up in May and having time to kill we stopped by. Walking into the shop we were met by two lovely assistants, Marisa and Olivia. The shop itself reminded me of the kind of chic dress shop you see in glamorous 1930's movies. Round sofas, velvet ceiling to floor curtains on dressing rooms, elegant, gilded mirrors, glass cases containing classic accessories and beautifully displayed gowns and dresses. Oh La La caters to discriminating young ladies wishing a gorgeous, quinceanera, sweet sixteen or prom dress. Many of the dresses have the full, sweeping skirts favored by girls shopping for quinceaneras., but they also have a huge selection of graceful, figure enhancing gowns. The color selection is vast, the styles numerous and the sizes run the gamut. After trying on more than 10 dresses, our grand-niece had settled on two dresses which were lovely. At this point Olivia asked her some simple question and then said she wanted her to try on a dress that was on a display mannequin. The minute she put on the dress, without it being zippered, she and the rest of us knew. It was classic, young, simple, glamourous and ideal with her hair and complexion. In short it was perfect. Olivia had carefully watched what styles she discarded, what colors brought out her blue/grey eyes and what enhanced her athletic build. In an instant she was transformed into a princess. Seeing a need for alterations, Olivia and her colleague, Marisa, made detailed notes. We also explained that we were from out of town and the dress would have to be shipped. They assured us this would not be a problem and they took detailed information of when it was needed, where it should go, etc. Since we were flying out three days later, we hastily arranged for a fitting in two days. Marissa took charge of detailing what needed to be altered. We had a bit of trouble with the zipper as it got caught on some material and broke, but she managed to pin it closed, and made precise measurements for the new hem. Nowadays, buying gowns on the internet is common. But when you do so you do it knowing that it might not be exactly what appears on your computer screen. When you purchase something from a store where you have tried it own and been measured you expect it to be 100 % PERFECT. Although we were very happy with the dress and the service, we left with some trepidation, knowing that if there were any snafus' it t could be a prom disaster. I kept in contact with Marisa from my office in New York during weekly phone calls. At all times she was informative and very reassuring about the status of the alterations and the dress. When I called requesting a swatch of the dress, she immediately shipped it out. When our prom girl became anxious about having her dress thousands of miles away, I called Marisa requesting to receive it 2 weeks prior to the date we had originally given her. Without any hesitation, she arranged to receive it from the seamstress, with its new zipper, and beautifully altered. She then telephoned me to confirm it had been shipped and gave me the tracking number. It arrived in gorgeous condition the next day. Every promise that was made from beginning to end, was met in spades. My one regret is that Oh La La is located thousands of miles away from us. I think it is also too bad that they don't carry bridal dresses. The Oh La La experience, being in the shop, looking through the stunning dresses, gowns and accessories and dealing with the marvelous staff, would be so beneficial to anyone looking for a perfect wedding dress. If you live anywhere in the Phoenix area, of find yourself there with a formal event coming up, stop in at Oh La La. From the moment you set foot through the door, your experience will be unique. It is a wonderful experience that will the bar for whatever glamorous event you are about to experience. You will have encountered the Oh La La experience.
