| - Went in today at my wife's request, thinking that after many years- having had a terrible experience- the shop's owners may have changed...
I specifically asked for four year old cheddar. The person behind the counter ( a one eye-browed, extremely polite hairy armed man of an individual, wearing a gaudy wrist watch- I only give this description as a way to identify him ) proceeded to slice me a piece of cheese that, unbeknownst to me at the time, happen to share the same characteristics, including taste as cracker barrel cheese. It didn't even crumble! It simply had to be. I know because I've been in a position to have my hands tied, not have a choice but to buy the cracker barrel cheese. I know the texture and the taste.
Several years back, I had been to that store in search of Gruyere. I was sold instead American Swiss cheese. Total disappointment. I didn't go back until today, some ten years later, when I happened to be walking on the Danforth with my wife, whom insisted and urged me to patronize this store, based on propaganda she'd read in the NOW. I only obliged to prove what I already knew from my one and only experience many years ago: The people who own this store think, and maybe rightly so, that their customers are idiots. I will never, ever, ever step into that store again!
Stupid, stupid me!
