  • We came to CTCA for a second opinion after our local docs found oral cancer but told us not to worry because it had "probably" been removed, by the oral surgeon. Local docs did not offer any confirming scan. I called CTCA. Spoke to Matt, who was both knowledgeable and kind on the phone. He confirmed with our insurance that we had 80/20 coverage with a $2500 deductible. Once here, we found the staff was top-notch. We had a PET/CT, state-of-the-art workups and the surgeon (Dr. Litvak) was smart, kind, and competent. Also CTCS charged us only $75 for five nights in a nice hotel-style room, with great sheets and pillows. The cafeteria was more like a restaurant, with almost all organic ingredients, (mmmm the Kobe burger) - and they discounted the food prices enormously. But finally, after our horrible insurance company balked at paying the bill, CTCS manager, Jeff, told us not to worry. No matter how our insurance issues came out, we would not have to pay CTCA more than the $2,500 that CTCS initially promised us on the phone. They would stand by their word and battle the insurer on our behalf, and eat the balance, if necessary to keep their word to us. We were lucky and indeed no cancer remains, but for anyone dealing with the fear and anxiety of cancer, this "all service under one roof" approach is very decent. Instead of having to go one place for a scan, and another for lunch, and another for blood work, and another for physical exams, and another for a naturopath, and another for support groups, and another to sleep at night etc. - its all right here - under one roof. We met several patients and found all we met feeling the same way as us about CTCA. If you are fortunate to have a good insurance plan or wealth, I think this is the place to go if you get the big C in your life (although no matter how good anyone is - I'd get second opinions, when dealing with cancer).
