Disappointed last night, for the first time in all our visits to Sonoma. Partially because I may have just decided on something that I didn't enjoy as much as I thought I would.
However, the server had very little knowledge of the menu and when asked their opinion they basically gave it a coin flip response. More so of their attentiveness to our table, as they walked passed several times and barely made eye contact with us or noticed that our wine & water were completely empty. Was practically through the main course by the time I had my 2nd glass & only got that when I could finally grab their attention.
Have not encountered this server in past visits. We're usually blown away by not only the meal, but also the server who really added to the experience. Perhaps we caught this person on a bad night. Or, just had too high of an expectation since our recent visits we simply had asked for the Chef's Table & were amazed with the meal from start to finish. In this particular visit they clearly were not up to par with other waitstaff. Was planning on dessert as it was a birthday dinner, but ended up passing as I just wasn't feeling like it by that point. 3 stars for the food / can't say much of a rating was deserved from the service.
