  • I'm struggling with my thoughts on this. Is it pretty? Yes. Is it festive? Yes. Is it worth it? I DON'T KNOW. It's difficult to justify visiting this when, for most people, this involves driving to the speedway on a weekend, which will most certainly guarantee sitting in a running car for at least an hour (in our case close to TWO hours). When you enter, you fall into a line, which is in one of three lanes. You'll inch along as a handful of cars from each lane are pushed ahead. Eventually, you'll reach a staff member, who will collect your payment. For this, I encourage you to purchase an admission on Groupon. For $4 less than the $30 admission for one car, we also received 4 drinks. Once you're paid up, you'll inch along, again, until you reach a boy scout who will take care of snacks and drinks. The boy scouts were the highlight. They were too cute and super friendly. It was also nice to not have to step outside of the car for drinks. The key to enjoying the lights is to turn off your headlights. This is a great suggestion that is completely negated by the fact that it gets so crowded that the views are marred by a bunch of red from all the brakes. Anyway, everyone in our car was trying to be polite about the fact that we were all slowly dying inside and fighting the need to use the restroom. If nothing else, we bonded over this shared struggle. I mean, seriously, by the time we got out of the speedway, we could have made it pretty close to Los Angeles. I just don't know...
