  • When my week old newborn was having trouble latching and I was enduring cracked, painful nipples around the clock as we dealt with cluster feeding for days on end, I knew I needed a lactation consultant. Amey came highly recommended by my doula, so I reached out to her right away. She was able to visit me in the comfort of my own home the very next day. She was very personable and knowledgeable and worked with my husband and I so we understood everything she was evaluating in our son. Her background as a labor and delivery nurse was invaluable. She helped me to establish a better latch in several different positions so I would feel confident with my options when she left. She also took the time to review my medical history and birth to better understand all possible factors affecting breastfeeding. Amey left a personalized care plan and encouraged me to reach out with any questions/concerns as well as positive progress in the coming days. She also left a superbill with detailed instructions for submitting it to my insurance carrier for possible reimbursement. It's so hard to know when the "right" time to ask for help is, especially when it comes to a newborn baby. Amey helped me to feel so at ease with the whole situation though that I was confident I had made the right choice by reaching out. She was well worth every cent and I will definitely use her again if I need a lactation consultant in the future!
