  • Loved this stall in the Jean-Talon market. Offering a mixture of Slavic and Eastern European goods, Balkani delivers in such a satisfying way. The mici here (a ground beef, veal, pork, lamb meat roll/kebab), was phenomenal. A friend of mine from Bucharest always talked about the street food in Romania, but I cannot say I've come across this crowd pleaser of a dish until now. The kebab/sausage was so juicy, spicy, smoked. Served atop some mildly crunchy and vinaigretty sauerkraut, then perched on a simple hard roll, it made me wonder why in the world we settle for simple processed hot dogs. Why...Ever! For less than $5, this sandwich was a great value and had amazing flavor. Don't miss it!! And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find a plane ticket to Romania.
