| - The quality of food here is excellent! The Horchata drink is soooo authentic (thicker/ richer than at other places)! The menu is huge!
The prices may seem high at first, but the portions are very big. We got a pork plate Cochinita Pibil for $19.75, which comes with lots of meat - the pork is so tender and so good. On the side: tortilla wraps, their special mashed potatoes, and many zucchini slices. We also ordered a Tacos Camaron, which comes with three of the same shrimp tacos, for $12.75. The battered shrimp was fried just the right amount - it had just the right amount of crunch - so good. The Horchata that we ordered was $5.50, which was Barrio's house made specialty - it came in a tall coca cola bottle that is enough for one refill.
It's a great dinner place - we will be proud to bring our out of town guests here.
Compared to our other favorite Mexican restaurant Gallo Blanco (on Clarendon), Barrio is more formal, does not have any happy hour on the weekend, seems to specialize in margaritas, and has a much bigger dinner menu.
