| - Is this a north Indian place? A south Indian place? A Pakistani / halal place? I'm not sure. It's trying to hit all the bases at once, and succeeds only marginally in any direction. The lunch buffet, with its bewildering array of regional specialties, reflects this. The day I was there, it had six meat options, but only one vegetable (!). Chai tea and mango lassi were served complimentary with the meal.
I did enjoy the moru kuzhambu (a spicy south Indian yogurt gravy), but found most other dishes to be just blah, such as the curd rice, idlies, egg masala, and pongal. Dessert offerings were bewilderingly plentiful (ten options, not including the aforementioned mango lassi and chai) but, as with the mains, most were rather lackluster in flavor.
Bottom line: If you want exposure to a variety of Indian dishes, you enjoy meat, and you live in the north or west valley, give this place a try. For us, we won't bother driving across town when we've got Madras Ananda Bhavan much closer.
