| - Just as the Alterra - err... Collectivo - on the Square quickly became my favorite and go-to coffee spot, so too has the Monroe St. location.
Almost everything is spot on here, and has already been said by others, so I'll offer my two quibbles:
- Just like on the Square, the music here is butt-shakingly loud. All the time. It's fine when it's packed, but as I sit here at 8PM, it drones through my noise-canceling headphones (probably through the vibrations of the bass. Well, and the volume.)
- I don't order complicated drinks, nothing fancy and/or in Starbuck lingo; but nearly every time there's mass confusion over what I'm ordering, how much it costs, what goes in it. (Hint: Red eyes = coffee + 1 espresso shot; Black eyes = 2 espresso shots.)
(Last thing: if the Collectivo Corporate Overlords read this: in future cafés please (p l e a s e) install more outlets. Everyone has something that needs to be plugged in. And not everyone has caught on to the neat trick of plugging ones' phone into their plugged-in laptops, thus finding it necessary to monopolize _both_ plugs in an outlet.)
TL;DR: Turn down the music, and read the Barista Bible (and throw in a few extra outlets, please!)
