| - Now that you have to book a spot at M&P brunch three weeks in advance, the anticipation of the visit feels like half the fun. The meal itself isn't bad, either. ;)
The Bloody Mary bar is the highlight of the trip, every time, all the time. Grape leaves, sun-dried tomatoes, whole roasted garlic, sweet peppers, and every hot sauce on earth are just some of the accouterments to choose from when you take the plunge of building your own brunch time beverage experience. Don't be if it takes you six or seven minutes to craft your savory beverage/breakfast snack cup.
Now armed with two cups of booze and snacks, we return to our inappropriately small, round table to receive our meals from a despondent server. A great attitude is always appreciated, especially at brunch, in order to enhance the dining experience. A bad attitude is simply a missed opportunity. Admittedly we did chuckle after the server took a surprisingly condescending/undercover policeman tone after I ordered tequila for the bloody bar: "IDs first, then we'll talk flavors." Aye aye, captain.
My dining companion made the superb decision to order the Bi Bim Bap. Its Korean spicy funkiness made for an incredible flavor profile. Perfectly cooked black rice, crisp cucumbers, and a sunny side up egg solidified the dish as a slice of heaven. During the ordering process I panicked and ordered a breakfast charcuterie tray. The small selection of meats, though attractively served on a butcher block, was salty even for cured flesh. The two deviled eggs were tasty, but not impressive. I noticed that this meal has since been removed from the menu. Good choice.
With a Bloody bar that's on fleek, and meals that consistently remind you why you're an omnivore, M&P is worth the wait.
