  • We decided to spend New Year's Eve over a fancy dinner and skip the drunken parties. I'd needed a reason to go to Dining In The Dark for a minute, and the holiday seemed like the perfect opportunity. You have to understand a few things: Firstly, this is not an experience for someone who is "precious". If your going to be demanding and high maintenance, go somewhere you can pick your food, ogle the waiter, and try to look alluring over candlelight. Secondly, the whole point of dining in the dark is so that you fully immerse yourself in the experience of dining, without distractions. Yes, it's a mystery menu. That's part of the point. Thirdly, I learned something about myself I would have never notified before. I was eating my entree and it was incredible! I think this was the fifth course. I was so full by that point I stopped eating. Our waiter came by and asked if I was done, and I replied honestly that I wasn't sure... I couldn't see how much food was left on my plate. The moral of the story is, without the visual cue to keep eating just bc the food was there, I stopped eating when I was satiated. The food was excellent and the experience was eye opening (pun quasi intended). Would definitely recommend for foodies and adventurers alike.
