  • Equinox lacks many facilities for its $200 monthly price: no squash courts, no pools, not even a jacuzzi, relatively small space. I did join because the classes seemed decent and because they offer a 2 hour parking validation. The classes, while decent, are incredibly busy, to the point where you need to come 15 min early to secure a spot and even then people squeeze into your personal space. The mats they provide smell very strongly of feet so it's impossible to lie facing down on them. But this was all generally fine for my purposes. The trouble began when I tried to cancel/ temporarily freeze my membership due to an injury. I have never in my life been treated the way I was treated by the front desk staff that answered. He told me there is no one available for me to talk to and that it won't be possible anyway. I asked who I am speaking to and he yelled saying that maybe if I had paid attention in the beginning I would have picked up his name. I commented on his being condescending and asked to speak with the general manager and I was ultimately told "don't you forget your place"...This left me speechless, make of it what you will.
