Because as a runner I always struggle to find the "best" hotels near the start line of a race, let me leave this review for all you other runners out there!
If you are running the Pittsburgh Marathon or the Pittsburgh Half Marathon you DEFINITELY should stay here! It is SO close to the start line and allows you some extra sleep on race morning. I left my hotel room at 6:40am for a 7:05am start. I was in corral A and I only had to walk two blocks to my corral entrance. It could not have been a better location!
The room itself was very clean and the hotel was really cool. The lobby is on the top floor of the hotel and the rooms are below. We had a suite for 5 people and it was plenty large enough. There was a bedroom with two queens and then a living room area with a queen sleeper sofa. We could have easily fit a few more people if we really needed to. Everything was clean and we really felt like the money we paid was way worth it.
Breakfast is included and they even have a make your own omelette station which was super nice for fueling the day before a big race. On the morning of the marathon they offered bagels for runners starting at 5:30am, which I did not take advantage of but some of my friends did!
Parking: there is a valet option, but you can also self park in the mellon square garage, literally two feet away from the hotel. On weekends it is $6/day and so we only had to pay $12 for parking for the whole weekend. Talk about a deal in the middle of the city!
Definitely plan on staying here again for next year's race :)
