  • + delicious Bavarian fare and brews, + nice patio with a scenic view, - packed and noisy inside If you are looking for a typical Bavarian Oktoberfest experience the Pittsburgh Hofbrauhaus branch gets very close. Despite the TV screens showing sport events the interior reminds of the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich. Similar to the interior the menu is Bavarian and convinces with delicious brews and traditional Bavarian and Southern German fare, some of them with an American twist. Make sure you try the battered and fried Sauerkraut balls and the Hofbrau Dunkel beer! Besides German Oktoberfest Classics the live bands are playing popular American songs to which the crowd starts dancing after their first "mass" (a liter of beer). If you prefer a less busy atmosphere the outside patio with scenic views over Monongahela River is a great alternative during a nice summer evening. Average price for an entrĂ©e: $15, price for a "mass" (1 liter of beer): $12. + nice location + scenic view from the large patio + good Bavarian fare and beer - noisy and packed indoors
