| - Heike is a competent dentist and one could do worse than seeing him, however, he likes to up charge for things his patients don't actually need and that their insurance is unlikely to cover. At least that was the case for me. Unfortunately I was out at least $600 out of pocket before I figured that out, and it would have been $900 if I hadn't asked a simple question of another provider Heike referred me to (why I needed a referral to see an endodontist I'd already been seeing for 15 years is another question entirely). Anyway, after I ditched Heike (and my girlfriend also ditched him for other reasons that I hope she discusses here on Yelp), my new dentist also confirmed that I hadn't needed that expensive procedure Heike performed and of course,my new dentist's practice is to discuss all options and all prices before proceeding with any procedure outside of routine cleaning and check ups. I'm actually afraid to try to find out why the crown Heike put on one of my teeth ended up literally costing 3 what I paid other dentists in the past-sadly I assumed Heike would charge what other dentists had charged and I didn't ask about the cost.
Bottom line, If you choose to use this guy; ask a lot of questions and ask what things will cost before you allow him to proceed, even if your insurance previously covered that procedure at another provider. If you know you need a root canal (and frankly, who doesn't know when they have an abscessed tooth ,once you've gone through that once or twice), don't let Heike confirm that with an X-ray, because your endodontist will also X-ray you and won't bother to look at Heike's X-ray-Heike almost certainly knows this but really likes to milk his referrals.
Also, the awesome review seen above frankly looks like it was written by a ringer...perhaps heike himself.
