I came here due to the multiple positive online reviews for live lobster. Beforehand, I was in Chinatown and went to two different stores to check out prices (Hua Shing and Lucky Moose). They were selling for $8.99/lb to $9.99/lb depending on the size of the lobster. Prices were clearly displayed.
That same afternoon, I walked into Bill's and told him I wanted two lobsters. The ones on display were the same size as the ones I saw earlier in Chinatown. There were no prices displayed so as he was reaching for the crustaceans, I asked him for the price. $14.99/lb!!!!! That's 50% more than the others! I asked him why, and his reply was that lobsters aren't in season yet.
I made an excuse to leave and walked 100m east down the block to Fu Yao. They were selling for $9.99/lb. Those lobsters were massive compared to Hua Shing, Lucky Moose, and Bill's Lobster. Not wanting chewy old lobsters, I left empty handed.
I'm probably going to go check out T&T on Cherry St tomorrow to compare their prices too. I have a feeling it's not going to be a complete rip off like Bill's. I considered going back to haggle with him, but ultimately I didn't want to do business with this sort of character.
