  • Kind of sad seeing some of the reviews of Porter on here. Apparently these people haven't flown AC lately? I fly weekly, mostly short hauls, to which Porter is ideal. I live in the middle of Toronto, somewhat closer to Island Airport, but with city streets vs. highways, time wise without traffic, it's about the same time to get to either. Island is cheaper, about $40 in a cab, vs $60 in Airport cab, win for Island. As a business traveler I usually try to get first flights out in the morning and last return at night, the beauty with Porter is that I can arrive at Island airport less than an hour before my flight (to USA) and still make it through to the gate with plenty of time to spare. I am an AC 35k member, yet if I arrive at Pearson for a flight to LGA or EWR or JFK, I will be charged $150.00 to go on standby as I have technically missed my flight, and for the record, I get my seat on the original flight every time, yet still pay the extra. So after switching to WJ from AC, I slowly recognized that the Pearson part was a ball breaker, and quite honestly, despite WJ being in a shiny new terminal at LaGuardia, it's still a dump. So off to Porter I scrambled. Now I am about 15 visits into my Porter experience and loving it. By my calculations I am saving close to 3 hours a week by avoiding Pearson and LGA and EWR, despite it's being ugly and in Jersey is a far cry better than LGA any day. Porter's lounge concept is great, free Wi-Fi in an airport in the States is unheard of, AC's lounge Wi-Fi is as spotty as it gets down here. Schedule wise I have had three flights out of 30 cancelled and yet never have had to stay an extra night, some say that's pure luck, and I wouldn't disagree, except it's my reality. While flying with other carriers, having 3 of 30 flights would be considered a good quarter! Look, there are lots of reasons to love and hate all airlines, there's so little to differentiate them anymore, but Porter strips out a lot of the fluff and delivers a concept that is not only refreshing but fun and business travel is generally far from fun.
