I had been an advocate of this studio for years & talked it up to alllll my friends & family.
Things started taking a turn when several of my favorite instructors stopped teaching at Vegas Hot. The studio underwent a massive expansion and I noticed the number of members increased substantially.
Recently they started charging an additional fee per class, even to those that paid for a years worth membership. Although it is $1-2 per class.. It does add up if a class is taken almost every day. On top of that it has always been understood that we tip our instructors for the class. The fact that they charge the tip upfront does not sit right with me. It's like going to a restaurant and automatically being charged a predetermined amount of tip on the bill (regardless of party size or quality of service).
The instructors work hard and definitely deserve to be well compensated. Perhaps with a raise from within the company from all the new sign-ups instead of from charging already-tipping members that have paid their yearly dues.
Breaking up is hard to do! But there are plenty of yoga studios in the sea.
