  • I don't usually like to buy coffee when I'm out, it always feels like such an extravagance. I make a lot of coffee myself and to be honest I usually prefer my own over what comes out of a big brewed container at a shop. However I had to try Mugs when I heard they did pour overs. I love pour overs and don't have the patience to make my own that way. They certainly can make a pour over. And let me tell you, it is very excellent. I like the coffee I get there so much, that I asked one day whether they also sold coffee beans. They do. They carry Magnolia coffee. I had not heard of this but got some anyways. I am a pretty wide lover of coffee and will drink just about anything, I believe freshness and grinding and brewing has a bigger impact on taste than buying fancy beans. But I also like to change up what I buy. So these beans I picked up.... are significantly tastier than any other coffee beans I have gotten recently. Like very noticeably better tasting. I looked up Magnolia and they are a local Charlotte roaster who provide to Mugs as well as Terrace and Amelie's. Well I never had a stunning cup of coffee at either terrace cafe or Amelie's, any location; especially Amelie's has always been really just okay. (Sorry Amelie's lovers) However Mugs really does them justice. They make a damn good cup. So I would say this is a five star spot.
