| - everything was great until the alterations...
i bought my dress in march, it arrived in april, had my fitting in may and picked up in june. i told the seamstress that i was going to be losing more weight before the wedding and that i wasn't sure that i wanted to have it fitted that early. she told me that "most brides actually gain weight before their wedding" and that i should definitely do it now. she also said to me "most people say they're working out, but are they really breaking a sweat?" implying to me that i might not actually be working that hard...
so i took her advice and had my fitting, picked it up in july and it's been at my mom's house ever since. i went up this past weekend to try it on and make sure it still fit, and like i said i would, i have lost more weight. enough to fit two full fists in the top.
i called the alterations department on saturday afternoon (15 days before the wedding) and the other seamstress answered. she told me i couldn't even bring it in and they had no time to look at it, talk to me or take in the top before my wedding (in 11 days). she told me she had "a wall of 100 dresses and only two people here to sew them. you can go to any of our other locations and have them do it, but sewing is a dying art and we can't find anyone good enough to hire to help us".
i asked her if those 100 brides were picking up their dresses in the next 7 days and what else she suggested, since i was took their advice by getting it done so early in the first place. she told me to call around to every other location to find someone who could do it for me or i could start with another person nearby (not affiliated with DB) who she would actually trust more than the staff at the other locations. she wouldn't even help me make the appointment and then referred me outside the company!!
lucky for me, this other recommended woman said she could do it in 7 days and was very nice. she said she gets a LOT of brides coming from this DB location because the alterations team can't/won't accommodate their own customers.
the sad thing is, i love my dress and the process of trying it on and buying it was great. just take it and get it altered somewhere else. this staff is insulting and unprofessional.
