| - You could say my family has been a pretty loyal supporter of the Flames organization, with years of season ticket ownership; and paid attendances dating as far back as the Corral.
The latest lockout has made us rethink everything. All the "downtime" of another dying season gives pause for reflection.
First, it needs to be acknowledged the this lockout is nothing more than an ownership cash grab, that was highly miscalculated at best.
The Calgary Flames ownership group, reported led by Murray Edwards, have been a driving force behind this lockout. So when you need a target to vent your league-wide frustration, look no further than the Flames.
And my family has.
If there is one way to "fight back," it's this: stop your support, hit them where it hurts, and not give them another penny.
I will NEVER buy another licensed product, nor will I pay to attend a game.
I will even make a point to NOT support Flames' sponsors. PLEASE NOTE THIS FLAME'S SPONSORS!!!
Now, it's not just the lockout that has driven me to this point: as I said, this has been a period of reflection. And one conclusion I have come to is that the Flame's theme has been "Blown Opportunities."
Some highlights:
-- cheap ownership selling off the stacked cup team and giving us years of the infamous "young guns."
-- Drafting Trevor Kidd over Marty Brodeur
-- Failing to cash in on their 04 cup run, by allowing the coach who got them there to become a horrible GM (note: he was a great coach in San Jose, Calgary, and now of course LA. HE IS A COACH).
-- Dumping your future in 1st round picks in laughable trades
-- And now, of course, killing the momentum of the game in North America out of sheer maniacle greed.
I only gave you one extra star because you have managed to win one cup. Don't hold your breath waiting for the next one.
