  • I made an appointment with Nationwide vision after my insurance company told me their physician was in my network. One week before my appointment, P called me to ask if I could change my appointment from Thursday to Friday. I was able to accommodate their request, as long as it was the same provider. P verified that it was and that they only have one physician. I was called 3 times the day prior to my appointment to verify different insurance information. This should have been a red flag, since all of this info had been given to her weeks prior when the original appointment had been made. So, we arrive at the office only to be told that she was unable to reach the insurance company. I have never been asked to call my insurance for the office staff. However, she asked if I wouldn't mind calling in order to obtain a reference number for proof of my eligibility. So, I called, we were indeed eligible. However, since the time my original appointment scheduling, they had a physician change. The new physician was not in my network. This information should have been obvious if the office staff was at all competent. First off, P told me wrong information when I asked if we would have the same doctor as the original appointment. Second, no one could tell me the honest information prior to the appointment. All they had to say was " We had a change in Physicians and this new physician is no longer in your network." That simple! It takes a big person to admit fault. But in the long run, it would have saved a lot of aggravation. I did call and speak to A, the manager. She apologized for the experience and said this was not typical of the staff. Unfortunately, I will not go back to see if this was a one time occurrence.
