  • My beloved 11 year old car developed a terminal illness on Monday. A friend recently purchased a Subaru and told me how much she had liked the laid back atmosphere at this dealer. So when I went looking for a "new" previously owned car, I checked out the Subaru of Las Vegas web page. They had several cars that met my price range requirements so Tuesday I went in there. First of all the place was a madhouse, albeit a good one. Salvation Army and Fox 5 were there doing a food drive ... typical of Subaru's community involvement. There was a great energy in the place. I met Dyan and she listened carefully to my situation and what price range I was looking for. There were no attempts to "upsell" me, just a brief wait while she collected information on the cars that met my requirements. After test driving excellent candidates, for which they had the full Carfax and service history reports for me to review, I had to make the ultimate decision... was I really going to part with the car that I've LOVED for 11 years? Maybe there was something that could be done...maybe I should take a couple days and explore more options. In the meantime, my friend was texting me the results of on-line searches she'd been doing confirming that the deal I was being offered was a GOOD one. And, if I waited a day or two, would the car still be there or would someone else recognize and scoop up the good deal? Dyan was great. We just talked, not even about cars; she brought me some food and beverages and invited me to just relax, take my time, and decide what I wanted to do. I sat in that office for about an hour and then finally listened to my gut (and texting friend) that said "BUY THE CAR!" The actually buying process went smoothly. The stack of paperwork required was deftly handled by Christie, and at the end of the day, the bittersweet goodbyes were said to my old buddy and traveling companion. On to new adventures with the 3-year old Honda Fit - (no, it's not a Subaru, but it's a sweet little car).
