| - My boyfriend surprised me with an early Valentine's Day dinner tonight at Il Pizzaiolo. Neither of us had ever been before and after tonight's experience, it would be beyond fair to say we will be coming back pretty regularly.
With not much standing room to wait, without being in the way, we wound up waiting outside between the restaurant and wine bar for about 45 minutes or so for a table. The hostess was amazing, despite the long (but completely worthwhile) wait. She kept us updated if she happened by and found us a cozy spot in the main restaurant. Neither of us realized we would be taken care of by a wonderful server, whom the rest of the staff kept referring to as one of the best ever. Emily gave us suggestions, knowing that we this was our first visit and answered every menu question we had. She gave us extra info on the dishes we ordered and never left us waiting for anything we asked for.
We started with an order of the meatballs and a caprese salad. Everything we ordered had much fancier names than I'm remembering, so please excuse that lol. Both appetizers were incredible. I generally have to add salt when I order a caprese salad but there was no need this time. Both appetizers were impeccably seasoned and delicious. For entrees, we had a pasta sausage and rapini dish...as well as a house made tortelloni, stuffed with mascarpone cheese and spinach. There are not words to describe how much we both enjoyed our entrees. Again, everything was perfectly seasoned and sauced just right. To finish, we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and the most decadently light lemon pastry cake I've ever had.
The saddest part of the meal was when it was over. This is one of the longest reviews I've ever written and if you made it to the end, thank you lol. The food was epic and Emily is truly amazing. Give this place a try ASAP!!!
