| - EXPLOITING, OVERPRICED & WEIRD!
3 STARS -Because the vet deserves 5 stars, but the business ethics deserves 1 star.
To start off the Vet was very nice, compassionate and professional! That being said my girlfriend took our cat, (Gloves: he was all gray with white feet) of 21 years into the office because his liver was failing, he was turning yellowish in the ears, wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, and started to hide and sleep in the tub.i.e. Google, is a wealth of information, hence where we figured out his liver was failing. We set an appointment to bring him in and we told them at the time of the appointment that we felt that it was the right time to let Gloves go to heaven because we didn't want to prolong his suffering from his body shutting down. We were told that they will check him out and make him comfortable.
She took him to the vet (alone since I was out of town) and was very emotional, the Vet took a look at him and said that the liver was shutting down (we knew this already, but its their job to explain) then they offered an option of taking him home with too try iv fluids and see if he it would help but only a 20% chance it would help but he would probably never be the same if it did help.
She didn't want Gloves to suffer and he had lived a great life, we had already decided to let him go to heaven. The Vet said they will be very gentle and make sure he didn't suffer any more. So here is where the WEIRD part comes in, the vet techs came in to take Gloves to the back and they asked is she wanted to say her last good bye's before they took him to the back to put him to sleep. My girlfriend was like what? Take him where? Where are we going? And then she was like: I'm going to be with him. Then the techs said you can't come back there. She then said you better think twice if you think im letting him go with out being with him. Then the techs were like oh, we can do it here then. Now I have owned several pets and as of recent she had to put her pit-bill TILLY(cancer) to sleep and just 2 months ago I had to put my black lab HOYT(15) to sleep and not once did the vets ask to take our beloved pets in the back to put to sleep without us present. I hope all pet owners stay with their pets til the end, why would you give away all that trust you built with them and not be there for them to see.
So after Gloves went to heaven she decided to take him and bury him in our field next to her other cat. And they had asked about cremation and a memorial plate of concrete. So she bought a nice memorial plate with the year and his name and imprints of his paws, it is nice and a reasonable price ($20.00). when she went to pay, (first off they don't accept checks which is also weird) but they said her bill was almost $200.00 here is the EXPLOITING part. Since the the Vet came in to look at him before they euthanized him they charged us a $55.00 office visit. We called to have him put to sleep not give him a 2 minute exam that cost $55.00. then the total price to euthanize him with the sedative shot was over $120.00. This brings us to OVERPRICED. (I know we should of asked how much but we were not in the right mind to consider that we would get EXPLOITED since we had no issues before. As I had said previously we both just had our dogs put to sleep at different veterinary clinics since this one was closer to us we decided to go here.
Tilly's (95lbs) bill was $180.00 and we had her put to sleep and cremated individually so she could keep her ashes of the animal that saved her life. And Hoyt (80lbs) was $89.00 to be euthanized and cremated and disposed of, Now we are dealing with Gloves (6lbs) cat and the price is more than an average dog and almost as much as individual cremation. And the office worker is standing in front of her as she just put down her baby and telling her "well that's just what we charge and we always charge for an office visit". WOW _ JUST _ WOW
So to wrap it up:
