  • 4.5 stars Is it just me or whenever I call a salon in Toronto (that's not over $200 for a service), they are always booked, booked, booked? It's really difficult to get something last minute. Not only did I call 6 different salons who couldn't get me a day-of appointment for a highlight but for some I had to wait at least another week. Sigh! Some salons even charge for the blow dry separately: Mod and Daniel Salons, I'm looking at you. SERIOUSLY?! If you are paying over $100 for a hair service like a highlight the blowdry should be included. Blasphemy. So I went the old fashioned way: in person. After three missed attempts of walking around in Yorkville, I was referred by Francesco Fontana to Industry (formerly Toni & Guy). And it was such a great recommendation! VIBE This is one of the biggest salons in Yorkville that I've seen. At least it looks that way. It's location is a bit clandestine --it's behind the rocks and park on the other side of Cumberland (where the alleyway, Pottery Barn and backside location of Nike is). Right beside the MB & Co. sandwich shop. The salon is sleek with those slippery-esque shiny floors, tons of mirrors and black salon chairs. They've got a great set up. And they have internet. Internet in the salon! Genius! They also have a separate area divided for the colouring stations and where you get your cut. THE SERVICE I was in dire need of a colour touch up So I got a half head of highlights. I was introduced to Diana who was professional friendly and courteous. She also listened to my needs and explained the differences between partial, half and full highlights (I never used to "touch up" and always got a full head of highlights). My colour now looks a bit more uniform. It took a damn long time (2 hours for everything!) The blow dry was quick and easy and they really work as a team here. Her colleague helped me out with the blow dry and they left it simple and sleek. Plus, my hair smells good! They also have very good product here including a detangling brush (yes please!) and lots of L'oreal/Keratasse product. Everyone is really professional here. The service was a bit more expensive than I would usually pay for a half head of highlights: including tax and tip, it was $147. Because it was last minute and I had a good feeling about the salon, I went for it. OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK A great industry at Industry! (cue symbols). Everything was on mark. I'd definitely come here again and see what they could do with a cut. When the owner personally says hello, I think that's an added touch. Bravo!
