| - Grigio Metro is interesting because it's very different from many of the other "urban" apartments in this area. The crowd here varies, but overall the maturity level is high, even for the college students. Noise level is interesting, because the building is cement. So therefore, you cannot hear if there is a party next door while you're in your apartment, but if you step into the hallway you can hear practically everything if someone is yelling or has the TV on. Which isn't terrible because I mean, no one hangs out in the hallway. However, you can hear the people above you like crazy. Even if they're walking you know it.
The lofts are super nice, they're like mini houses. I've never been in one of the townhouses (with individual garages) but they can have huge parties, and you'd never know it they're practically soundproof. The apartments in general are pretty small... but not unbearable. In the typical two bedroom, there is one master bedroom and one smaller bedroom. Both have bathrooms, but the master has the washer/dryer which is awkward when your roommate needs to do the laundry. The master is huge, the walk-in closet is really nice and allows for a lot of clothes, but not too much organization.
The appliances throughout the apartment are GE so they're legit. The patios are small unless you live on a corner unit, and then your patio is pretty big and diamond shaped. Internet, is amazing, probably the best amenity. This building is contracted with Cox Communications meaning a few things -- you can't get Direct TV or Quest if you want to, you have to have Cox. But, the internet is like the highest speed and never fails, and also you get cable from Cox included in the rent, and you have the option to upgrade to digital TV with the box for $18/mo (so cheap!). Also, you get your own account with Cox so if you need phone or ultra fast internet or something you just pay the additional charge.
Rent isn't terrible at all, for what you get. It's a little pricey but compared to the other places but I think this is the best deal out there. The other really really reallllllly nice thing is that you have the option to get a utilities package (which I did because it's a great deal) it's like $180 (per apartment, per month) for unlimited utilities. Which is great considering you have your own air conditioning unit and your own water heater, etc. Cable and High-Speed internet are included in the rent.
Maintenance is awesome. You file requests online and they show up within the hour, and they're really friendly. They'll also do small things like change your air filter, and you don't have to ask them, they'll ask you -- nice for a change!
Rent you can pay online as well, there's no extra charge to do that, in fact they prefer it, and I've never had a problem with it, it's super convenient. There is recycling, but its in the back of the visitor parking lot, which is ... eh. But if you're sustainable you probably don't mind walking a bit. Recycling is actually new, it was as a response to surveys they did which is awesome because they listen to their residents.
I heard the apartments facing the pool are ultra noisy. But I mean that's a given. There are some epic parties at the pool, usually during the day.
The lightrail is extremely convenient. It's literally outside the door. It runs about every 15 minutes.
The social scene is okay depending on which part of the building you're in. There used to be a free party bus every Thursday going to Scottsdale but no one ever took it so they stopped it. Sometimes they'll email you and tell you to pick up tickets to comedy or something, which is great. There's free Yoga and Spinning classes at Grigio Tempe Town Lake which you have access to because they give you a key to Tempe Town Lake as well.
The gym is okay, it's really weird because they put it on Apache with a huge window looking in, so creepers can see you working out while they walk past. Also, there's hardly anything in the Gym. But they do have a roman chair, which you don't find many places (and they're AWESOME!) The area is pretty sketch, but I feel very safe in the apartment complex.
Staff is great , they listen to you, and take action, also they're really nice all the time and dressed nice always. I would definitely live here again, I've had a great experience so far. Overall great place to live, perfect if you're 20-something especially if you're an upperclassman in college.
