Both my husband and I had SoCal bookmarked for a while so last Saturday we stopped in for lunch. My husband ordered the beer battered fish tacos (Cod, I believe) and I ordered clam strips with a cup of New England clam chowder. My food was great but my husband's tacos were just so-so, they definitely needed more sauce to add some flavor but the fry on the fish was so crispy. What left a bad taste in my mouth was the owner. He was not friendly or welcoming whatsoever. I'm not saying you HAVE to be friendly but when we walked in, he didn't greet us, and when we left he didn't even acknowledge us, not a "thanks for coming" or a "how was the food, guys?" He definitely looked at us though. I'm not chatty by any means so I wouldn't have wanted to make small talk but personally, I like being made to feel welcome when patronizing a business. I asked my husband if it was just me who felt that way but he said he got a weird vibe too. First and last time at SoCal, for sure, but giving three stars because I did enjoy my food and our waitress was super attentive and kept our drinks filled at all times.
