| - I do not like hiring people to do repairs at my home. I grew up with handy big brothers who worked in home construction and could fix or build everything. Even my last boyfriend was very talented and could do plumbing, install flooring, carpeting, etc. I am often disappointed about the quality of work performed by random strangers.
I tried to go through a website called Home Advisor, (formerly called Service Magic) to locate a plumber and was only matched with one plumber. After reading a few of the Home Advisor reviews, I noticed that everyone mentioned their incredibly high pricing. Another local plumber I found through a Google search didn't bother to return my call.
My unhandy bf had used Mertz before and recommended them. I called on a Tuesday afternoon and was given an 8 am to 8:30 am Saturday appointment. Okay, that works. I did not have an emergency, I just needed to have my sinks reconnected after my granite counter top installation and my shiny new kitchen faucet installed.
Dan showed up promptly at 8 am. He was very nice and extremely polite and professional, the kind of man that I would hire if I owned a business. He didn't ask if I wanted new sink baskets, he just went to his truck and got them. When I asked him about using the old ones, he commented that he wouldn't want to use old stuff on my new sink. I agree. Price wise, I feel like they were fair. I would not hesitate to recommend them and will call them in the future.
