| - Oh wow I wouldn't have found this place if it wasn't for Eric T! Unfortunately their hours are 10am to 6pm weekdays only, which makes it almost impossible for me to visit due to my downtown job!
Over the Christmas break, they were opened on Fri, Dec 27 so I drove here without hesitation (from Mississauga!!!).
They were very quick to respond over email and phone. The staff are so friendly and their website IS FANTASTIC A++++. Putting aside the marketing fluff, there's lots to learn and love on their website ex. coffee terminology!, where their beans come from and why... And their online shop is totally functional, beautiful, and easy to use. Coffee and tea prices are VERY reasonable!
According to coffee-shop goer Kris U, Social Coffee is also the supplier of Red Bulb Espresso Bar (Stouffville)! Unfortunately you cannot buy Red Bulb's blend at this shop.
TO REPEAT: Social Coffee Company IS NOT a cafe, it's a coffee store.
You can buy all of their coffee/tea blends on their website (free shipping $25!) but I wanted to smell their teas in person. Tea scents are tres important for me!
I bought the People's Liberation (beans from Brazil, Ethiopia, and Mexico), incredibly smooth. I am very likely brewing this wrong? I am not getting the creamy texture... It still makes an amazing latte (yes, sorry friends, I like frothy milk!!!)
My nose didn't quite like most of their teas. I don't like teas with oranges, goji, too many berries, too black-tea like..... But I did brew myself a cup of Emperor's 7 Treasures (2nd page of "Teas"! This is: black tea, green tea, flavouring, rose blossoms, sunflower blossoms) and it's very, very smooth. It's (almost) exactly the same as my #1 favourite David's Tea "Three Wishes" (Chinese green tea and black tea, sunflower petals, jasmine blossoms, rose petals, artificial flavouring).
Which is better? Dare I say, Social Coffee's actually tastes a tad better?! I don't know!! I can't decide, I'm having it right now and I love it!***
YES I will be a loyal customer of Social Coffee! And am looking forward to experiencing their other blends!!
BONUS for using Square for my credit card payment (so my receipt was emailed to me! I was able to refer to it when I forget the coffee/tea I bought!)
***After some time... (10 minutes) Here is the verdict:
Social Coffee's version is very strong with black tea (aka caffeine!!), David's Tea's version is a very calm tea for me (my end of day, comfort tea). I'm so awake right now with the Social Coffee's tea!! Now I have a morning AND an evening version of my #1 fav black/green blend!
