| - When I first read the article about a pair of enthusiasts that wanted to revive the heyday of the Coin-Op Arcade games, I was both skeptical and excited.
Skeptical because several others in the years beforehand have tried this same concept, and summarily failed and closed down.
However, Starfighters Arcade managed to find their niche at its particular location, and they're thriving. Because, after all these years, they are still around and are going strong.
From the moment that I finally took the time to search this place out and spend some time enjoying all that it had to offer, I was hooked.
They have most of the old Coin-Ops, and a good offering of Pinball machines. They are missing my 8 Ball Deluxe Pinball machine, but that doesn't detract from the overall appeal of the place.
I am not a member, but I gladly pay the daily membership fee when I am here. It's a bargain compared to what I used to pay to play some of these games.
During my early adulthood, around the second year of our marriage, I used to spend $40 per week with my buddies playing Gauntlet. At that time, I was only taking home $160 / week! My sweet wife was so patient with me. I'm surprised she even stayed with me through those growing years. =)
Now, I can pay just $10 and button mash Gauntlet to my heart's content!
I love the atmosphere of the place because one can just come, and have fun playing all these games to their heart's content without being bothered. Which is why I have continued to stop by here from time to time and just enjoy some calmer gaming time.
