| - It was mid afternoon on a weekend, and I had not eaten since the evening before, so about 18 or 20 hours.
Was starvingly hungry, and walked into the 7-11 to see if they had something decent to eat, that wouldn't cause me heartburn. I got a drink filled with diet soda.
As I was looking through the food section, a store employee came up to me, and loudly, sarcastically, said "Are you hungry, BIG GUY?"
He really triggered me. After years of study, decades of professional work, and a lifetime of accomplishments, I don't need some store employee judging me based on my size.
I slammed the drink down on the counter, told him that I won't be buying anything from the store, and left.
I called 7-11 Canada the next day. The store manager called with a half hearted apology, and tried to tell me that the employee was just being friendly, and did not do anything wrong.
They should try asking the next person of color who walks in, "are you hungry, Darkie" and see what happens.
