  • Got a relatively cheap rate of $247 for three nights. But I've gotta remember almost all hotels charge a "Resort" fee on top of the room rate, so an extra $25 per night at the Nugget. Mr. or Mrs. Golden Nugget please read the reviews of your hotel! I read many of them prior to booking and a common theme appeared; painfully slow check in. Your hotel is listed as having 2400 rooms, and you had 2 people checking guests in...2! Guess what people waiting in line to check in were complaining about?? This is one of the first impressions a guest has. Got to the room and had two maintenance issues. Called the front desk and in less than 15 minutes a maintenance man was knocking on the door. Another 10 minutes or so, and both issues were resolved. Excellent service by the maintenance department! The room was fine, about what you would expect for the price. Shower was great, pressure really good and no wait for hot water. Only ate at two of the restaurants, Claim Jumper and Cadillac Mexican Kitchen, both were fine. The Mexican joint does have a good Happy Hour from 4-7 pm. Pool - Get to the pool at 8 am when they open the doors to reserve a lounger if you want a specific area or chairs; otherwise, good luck! The hotel provides towels, just look for the yellow/white striped ones in the cart. Put the towel on the lounger you want, with a personal item on it, and it's yours for the day, no charge! Great service by the waitresses at the pool. Mixed drinks were $8.50, think beer was $5. Never even get out of your lounger if you don't want to. Water slide thru the shark tank is free. I did it 3 times and it was a bit of fun. Pool is great with a large shaded area to get out of the sun for a while. It was 109 degrees the day we were there so the shade came in handy. Hotel and casino are right on Freemont Street. I enjoy downtown more than The Strip, so The Nugget worked for me. Didn't play in the casino but it was very busy every time I walked thru. Would definitely stay here again, but might ask for a newer section of the hotel. Checking out of the hotel only took about 5 minutes, but there were still only 2 people checking guests in, and quite a line of people waiting. Interesting!
