| - It's was a gorgeous Sunday in Pittsburgh, and we were looking for something different to do. We had read that Millvale had three new breweries, so we hopped in the car and decided to check out Grist House.
I knew when we saw the amazing Mission Mahi taco truck that we made the right call. There was a flat, fenced in gravel yard with picnic tables and cornhole. There was also a covered deck and a bar with open garage door-styles windows that were wide open, letting all of the patrons enjoy the weather.
I'm a self-professed wino, but I was still very excited to try some local brews. I started with the Camp Slap Red and then had their Summer Saison. The Camp Slap Red was my favorite, with a very light flavor. It was super crisp and clean, just a delightful summer brew.
The Summer Saison was also really good. If I had a third, I would have gotten another Camp Slap Red!
They were also kid friendly, and our son had a root beer. : )
We took our drinks outside and ordered fish tacos. It was pure bliss to be enjoying such great beer and great food on a gorgeous summer day.
We found Grist House to be dog-friendly and bike-friendly, too. Our bartender (bonus points: she looked like Amy Poehler) said that now they were opening on Sunday's at noon, the would have food trucks there every week.
I would highly suggest going and spending a few hours at Grist House.
