I've been without a family doctor since I left my pediatrician...it was the saddest day of my life. I never felt that I needed a doctor, I always thought that I should get one but I never got around to doing it. I've always been very in tune with my body so I always felt that if something was wrong, I would know it and at that time I would do what was necessary.
Well this past summer I realized that now I'm getting older it would be good to attach myself to someone and when I get older she'll know my history and what not. So I made the plunge and signed up with a doctor at this clinic. I used to use the clinic as a stop in when I was sick so it made sense to use a doctor from here.
I don't give a lot of credit for the work that they put into keeping us healthy but over the past few months I realized that when you really need them, they are definitely there for you.
A special case arose and I was in and out of the doctor's office every 2 days and getting bloodwork and what not. The receptionists were great and friendly and the doctor remembered my case without even looking at my file. It got so bad that I needed to have minor surgery with a specialist and now I'm following up with the specialists and not my family doctor.
I received a phone a few days after my surgery and it was my family doctor asking how I was and how the surgery had gone. I was shocked! Completely and utterly shocked by this phone call. I knew that there were doctors out there that will take the time and sit with you and really get to know you but I figured with a young doctor like mine she had the mentality of in and out and doing the least amount of work possible. It really meant a lot to me and I am definitely going to stick with her for as long as she allows me to because she showed that she took an interest in me and cared enough to call and ask.
***Note this is not a walk-in clinic. Walk-ins are welcomed but they will accomodate you according to their schedule.
