  • I really like Le Refuge - maybe it's because I've never really been to an outdoor-style spa in the dead of winter, but I was all sorts of amazed by the concept of frolicking around in dry sauna after steam sauna after hot whirlpool after warm whirlpool after icy stream after cold pool and then sitting on sheepskins by a fire pit. The staff here is friendly and accommodating, and I cannot believe that I am ANKLE DEEP IN A FROZEN STREAM IN MORIN HEIGHTS HOLY CRAP SPEED WALK TO THE WHIRLPOOL! Aaaaand then you sit inside in the warmth, draped in blankets, sipping herbal teas, reading a book, surrounded by others in various states of consciousness on puffy armchairs. I had a massage and a pedicure here, certainly lovely, but the real treat is honestly frolicking around like a dork from hot bath to cold pool to steam room to dry heat in your dorky flip flops.
