| - After exhausting every search and review for remote car starters we chose to go with Handcrafted Car Audio. Honestly, if you've started your search, save yourself the hassle and go with them.
The whole team at Handcrafted Car Audio is very knowledgeable and professional. They are up front about all costs and equipment. Also, they use very well rated remote car starters. The system they use is expandable which means that if you want to upgrade anything down the line you can. They answered my questions by email and phone super quick. They also always answer their phone during business hours. Lastly, they guarantee their work so if you ever do have an issue you can take it back to them.
Some things I learned about remote starters:
1. You want a really professional installation - they are dealing with your car starter for goodness sakes and you want someone who does this on a daily basis (I checked out Best Buy and their own install people didn't know much about what they were going to do.) I also checked with some more local installers, but they were never as professional or knowledgeable (they had to "get back to me" about my questions).
2. You want a system that can start through building walls. Some of the cheaper systems need direct line of sight to get the car started. I can turn my car from inside Target which means after I'm done checking out my car is nice and cool when I get to it.
3. All installs are pricey - however, Handcrafted Car Audio gave me the best and most direct quote. There were no surprises. For example, Best Buy advertises an install for around $120, but when I went to the store and got a real quote for my vehicle it was about $100 more than Handcrafted audio. Some cars are more straight forward and my vehicle required some additional wiring (which I suspected it would since it's not a very popular car).
4. The install takes a while, so we dropped the car off and picked it up later. We actually drove 35 minutes to get the remote starter installed here, but it was well worth the time and money.
5. If you are a mom and considering getting a remote car starter for air conditioning while you load your kids, it is wwwaaaayyyy worth the cost and time. I feel secure knowing that I can have the car running without someone driving away while I load my kids. Also, it makes it sooo much more comfortable in the heat. Your babies don't have to sweat away while you load groceries anymore! Or need to do quick changes, or snacks in the car!
