  • I decided to try a new salon after going to the same hair stylist for a couple years. No real reason why, I just wanted to see what else mid-to-uptown salons had to offer. I was curious about the difference between a $50 haircut and a $80+ haircut would be. There was definitely a difference. First and foremost is the location. The salon itself is steps from Yonge and Eglinton, which is perfect for me as I feared I would have to force myself to go all the way downtown for a top notch experience. The salon itself is modern and minimalist, very open concept. The front wall (where I was seated for my cut) is graced by huge windows showering the space with natural light. This will be appreciated in my next few visits when I trust Educo with some colour work. I made my appointment by e-mail with my fingers crossed for a lucrative Friday afternoon appointment with a top stylist on short notice. The team responded within a day or two and set up my appointment with Daniel. The ladies at the front were welcoming and didn't laugh when I had to call to ask how to get in (the door is next to the Tim Hortons, it's not hard to find but the construction in the area had me turned around). Daniel was excellent. I often fear that when I go for a cut that my laid back attitude will confuse my stylist. I didn't come equipped with pictures or any specific idea of what I wanted. I told Daniel that I was desperately trying to grow out my hair (which is at the dreadful just-past-the-shoulders length) but that it was damaged from a previous dye job. I told him I wanted a little more than a trim because I felt so boring and plain. The consultation stage took just a few moments before I was enjoying my scalp message with aromatic oils. My hair looks amazing. I have never walked out of a salon and been so happy with the way I look. Usually I have to go home and fuss with my hair a bit to get it how I like it. I walked out of Educo feeling amazing despite the dreary weather and awful road construction. Thank you Educo team, and thank you in particular for Daniel for his skill and knowledge in how to deal with someone a little lackadaisical and socially awkward as I am. I felt so comfortable trusting him with my hair, which is a feeling that was keeping me at a slightly lesser salon for so long.
