| - Our group had a fantastic time at Ateliers!! We were about 30 American spending a few days in Montreal and decided to book a double activity night for the group. We were split in half and while one group had a wine tasting and lesson with bites to eat with Arnaud, the other group was helping Imam prepare a ton of delicious tapas!
The wine tasting was really much like a lesson on wine! How to recognize a light wine, how to determine the age, the content of sugar and alcohol. It was really fascinating. Arnaud was a great teacher and extremely knowledgeable. We had 2 tasting and and bits such as cheese puff pastry palmiers, a cheese board with amazing bread and a bread and fish croquette on top of a crunchy salad. We learned so much in our hour! Even the wine aficionados of the group learned something and left the table happy and interested.
The cooking class was an awesome adventure and Imam was amazing!! The 2 groups did different things, one did a lot of chopping and preparing and the other a lot of cooking and putting everything together. Makes sense! He was excellent and really patient dealing with all of us. He was on top of everything, and that was a lot!!
Mamadou was healing in the kitchen and he was super sweet and efficient with cleaning up all the mess we made.
We had the last hour of our adventure dedicated to eating everything we made and some of what chef Imam had prepared in advance for us.
We got to enjoy:
- seared foie gras with grilled figs, speculos crumbs and coulis: that was one of my favorite!!
- grilled sesame tuna on top of a pea purée
- gratin dauphinois with shredded duck: delicious!
- salmon tartare: amazing.
- cheese and steak skewers
- banana bread with berry coulis
- my favorite, and I had 3 portions.... Was a layered dessert with crumbs, a mascarpone like yogurt and topped with a mango coulis. That was amazing.
We had a great experience. The food was delicious, the team very professional, and we created very fun memories! Thanks for having us!
