What kind of business is this? I called the Craig Location and ask how much it was to be seen for someone who has no insurance. I was greeted by a receptionist/MA named Patricia. She answered the phone in a very upbeat manner but once I started asking her even for a ballpark estimate of what my visit might cost me to have my toe looked at. Her tone of voice went from upbeat and cheerful to monotone and annoyed by the questions I was asking. She told me she couldn't give me a number because she wasn't sure if it needed to be lanced or etc. When I asked if there was a wait she responded with, " Well theres more people coming in the lobby so yea there is a wait." Since I thought she was rude on the phone I decided to go to the Care now on Anne. I drive up and there is only a couple of cars in the parking lot. Im thinking it was just for the employees "WORKING" at that current time because when I went inside the place was completely empty. NO ONE WAITING OR ANYTHING. I DOUBT THERE WAS EVEN ANYONE BEING SEEN IN THE BACK. I go up to the receptionist tell her I just moved here and I dont have insurance but want to be seen. She asked what for and I tell her for my toe, the skin around my nail is inflamed but I doubt I need to have my nail removed because its not by my nail exactly and I have had it treated prior and already partially removed my toenail but I was thinking they didn't put me on the right antibiotics and I just wanted to have a provider look at it. (I really wanted to talk to a provider since I have already had it seen before and it was too much to convey to the receptionist) Right away she was like we probably cant see you but let me go see. She goes in the back comes back out and was like the only thing we can probably do is give you a referral to a specialist. In which I replied so I'm going to have to pay 145.00 just for a referral. Like if the provider thinks I may need a prescription he wont write one he will still refer me out? Why advertise on the website that these conditions are treated at the care now locations but then basically deny and do everything in their power to not have me be seen even though they were not busy and I was literally the only one there. If I was the provider I would have at least walked out and looked (I was wearing sandals) at my toe and tell the receptionist or me ok go ahead and register and Ill see her or vice versa. SINCE I WAS THE ONLY PATIENT IN THE BUILDING. Why would the other location even say she couldn't give me a ballpark estimate of the cost of the visit because she wasn't sure if my toe needed to be lanced or not! Are the providers just choosing what patients they do and do not want to see? After all this the receptionist pulls out a piece of paper of another urgent care not affiliated with the care now urgent care and tells me to go there because its probably cheaper (she said she thought $68.00) and they will most likely look at my toe. WHAT THE HELL. I myself am a medical assistant and have urgent care experience and I would never treat patients this way. I left the office in tears and in pain. When I tried to call the office that the receptionist referred me to (the one she circled on the paper) THEY WERE CLOSED! At this point I am desperate and will most likely need to go to an ER to be seen even though thats the purpose of an urgent care to avoid going to an ER. I am so upset and confused on the medical practice and customer service being provided. zero stars. I basically handed my card over and was willing to pay the 145.00 visit but instead referrred to another urgent care. doesnt make sense.
Update: went into a dignity health location and was prescribed amoxicillin for the infection and was told to soak my foot. Was also given ibuprofen for the pain. Why couldn't this be done here????? Mind boggling!
