| - I wish I could go back in time, join O-Town and rename the song Liquid Dreams to Chocolate Dreams. Soma is a bang up little chocolate boutique and a great addition to King West. Elegant interior, moody lighting, always interesting seasonal selections, constant rotation on their basic varietals, inviting little haven of unusual chocolate concoctions that demands you look around the store, you'll discover something interesting around every turn. Quirky, ready-to-gift packaging that could go head-on with etsy. The drinking chocolate is so-so, a bit too thick and cloying for my taste, not a slam dunk. Poke around till you find "tree parts" a chocolate hazelnutty recreation of a birch branch. Intricately designed, this generously sized "branch" is so nice to look at that it will pain you to eat. Folksy packaging, makes a great gift. The white chocolate burnt smores bar is probably the most sinful, decadent, exquisite, well thought out white chocolate concept I've ever had. The squares are super sweet and artfully accented with burnt marshmallow marks, no artifice in taste, like I scorched it myself straight off the campfire.
Bonus - come back in the winter when this place transforms into such a cozy little hideaway that you'll feel like a squirrel stashing away your nuts for the winter in the nicest tree on the block. Grab yourself a seat at the windows and some coffee, hot chocolate or whatever suits your fancy. Gem of a place that shines best during the holidays.
