  • I have never been one to review places although I use Yelp to look up reviews of businesses I plan to go to. I needed to have some work done to my mountain bike as it was going to be my main mode of transportation for a few days while my truck is on the shop. I looked up reviews and info on nearby bike shops and Bike Zone was the closest. I called them up and asked if he had any availability to instal 2 gear shifters and adjust and lube my chain. He said that he could have it done it 2-3 hours so I shot down there to drop the bike off. First thing I noticed was that he has a very small space and a lot of bicycles. I brought the bike in and showed him the new grips and gear shifters that I had purchased and wanted him to instal. He immediately said that he would have to "cut" the brand new handlebar grips I bought. I asked why and that's when his attitude started. By his, I mean the owner. He threw the grips on the counter and said that he would do it my way. I told him that if we had to cut them, then so be it but I just wanted to understand why we needed to do it. He didn't want to explain and I needed the bike pretty quickly so I decided to ignore the attitude. I filled out the paperwork so he could call me when done and he then says that it'll be tomorrow morning before the bike is done. I asked him why he would tell me over the phone the 2-3 hour window and now it's overnight? He stated that he received 5 more bikes since I called. (Pretty good business for the 10 minutes it took me to get to the shop after my call) he was rude again so I told him I was going elsewhere. He didn't care one bit that I was leaving upset. He was still having an attitude with me and as I'm telling him that he needs to learn Customer Service ANOTHER customer that was looking at bikes starts saying from across the room the the owner was rude and had worse language than me to describe it. I was appalled that at the same time I'm complaining, so is another customer and about the SAME THING. Well this went on for just a couple minutes while I was trying to get my bike out of the bicycle crowded store. Meanwhile the owner all of the sudden takes off running out of the front door yelling. I realized that the other customer that had complained was not in the store anymore. I put 2 & 2 together and realized that the other guy had taken off with a bike from the outside stand. The shop owner then returns and points in my face and says "YOU CAUSED ME TO LOSE A BIKE" and returns to working on someone's bike. Stay far way. This guy and his shop are nuts. Instant Karma I was able to find a shop called State Bicycle Shop where the service was outstanding. Was ready in 2 hours and he didn't even charge me. Apparently I had a bent sprocket not allowing him to get a good adjustment on my bike so he said there was no charge. Talk about service. And the bike has never ridden so well. There are better options than having to deal with craziness.
