| - I live down the street from Patty's, so I've had quite a few experiences, most of them bad. Usually, I only go there if I'm in a pinch for an ingredient in the middle of making something, and for that reason, they get two stars. Thanks for being stocked.
But the reason I avoid it is because I often work very early in the morning, and on my way to work, I pass by the market as they're getting ready to open. Countless times, I have seen an older gentleman stocking produce (indoors) with a cigarette dangling from his mouth. Seriously -- stocking tomatoes while ash is presumably being flicked onto them. That just really turns me off. Yeah, you can wash your fruit, but FFS, have some decency.
Then, there's the quality issue. Every single produce item I've bought there that requires opening (i.e., bell peppers, avocados) has oozed from being kept too long, and the clamshell berries are often moldy.
Just... go to Giant Eagle down the street. Honestly, the prices aren't much different, and at least it's a bit fresher. Hardly anything from Patty's is local, anyway.
