  • My husband had me call around to get quotes for rear shocks. He figured if they treated me well on the phone, they would be an honest shop. I called several places and got quotes, some places tried to tell me it was something else, others wouldn't even give me a quote, and the ones who did give a quote were almost double what we got from General Automotive. So we made an appointment and dropped the car off in the morning. That afternoon they called an said the shocks were done, but that it was still making noise. I thought they were just trying to scam more money out of us. She said they thought it was the bushings but weren't sure, to check them it would cost $60 and if they were bad it would be about $250 to replace them. So we checked around and again found that General Automotive was about half of what others would charge. We gave them the go ahead to check the bushings, The next morning they called and said the bushings were fine but they didn't know what was making the noise. They could start checking but it could end up costing some money. Oh, and because it was so easy to check, they didn't charge us the $60. We picked up the van, it's riding much smoother, and it's not making the clunking noise anymore. So they fixed it, whatever they did. We will definitely be going back for all our vehicle maintenance. The only thing I didn't like was how small their parking lot is, but that is neither here or there. They can't really fix that!
