My partner and I recently moved to downtown Cleveland with our 7 month old Australian Cattle Dog Pepper. I found this park on yelp and living downtown was very excited to find a dog park within walking distance.
That was the end of my excitement. The first time we went it was extremely hot. There is no shade at this dog park and all of the equipment here is metal or wood that gets even hotter after the sun has been beating down on it all morning. When I say no shade I mean NONE. There is not one tree in the entire fenced in area and the ground is all gravel.
Pepper had fun the first time going to the park despite there being not one other dog the whole hour or two that we were there. Because of this I took her back a few more times and every time it was vacant of any pup friends for her to play with.. which is the entire point of taking her to the park.
Also, there is no water fountain of any kind in or near this park. If you're going to put a dog park in a non shaded area and fill it with gravel at least have water for the pups when they get exhausted.. because they do.. every time. I almost had to carry my dog home because of my assumption there would be water and finding there was none.
I honestly wouldn't waste my time going here.. you'll end up feeling sad for your pup when you find there's no one for him/her to play with. It's a bit more of a drive but there are always dogs at the Lakewood dog park.
