| - Damn, can this place do brunch! I've been to a number of brunch places around the Pittsburgh area and this one might well be my favorite.
Let's start with the ambiance. Perfect lighting, not too bright and not too dim. Great for those coming to eat to cure themselves of their hangovers. The music playing were those AWESOME 90s jams we all love and keep near and dear to our hearts (you know that Lifehouse, Matchbox 20, and Third Eye Blind!).
I went with 3 other friends and was seated at the bar and greeted by friendly bartenders. We ordered the following: shrimp and grits, 2 orders of chicken and waffles, and scrambled eggs with potato gratin. Oh and of course some mimosas and bloody Marys (because, duh, it's brunch).
I did not have the fortune of tasting the shrimp and grits but the friend who ordered it said, and I quote, "I wish that never had to end". So, I'm guessing it was pretty freaking good. The friend who received the scrambled eggs said they were the best he had ever had.
Now, onto the chicken and waffles. WOOWEE. These chicken and waffles gave meaning to my life. I had a reason to live. To love. To write this review. First, the chicken...the amount they gave us, you would've thought they gave us the whole damn farm! Like 4 HUGE pieces of chicken topped on a giant Jalapeño waffle (jalapeño in a waffle?! The future is now, people) with a side of bourbon-bacon maple syrup. This entire thing lasted me for at least another 2 meals. Talk about getting your money's worth!
Onwards to service! So friendly and nice. When they took our plates, you would've thought we were doing THEM a favor by having our plates removed. Bartenders were great, they talked to us, but not in a forced way and kept us entertained with their mixology while we waited patiently for our food.
Bottom line, this place is wonderful. All the hype Meat and Potatoes gets is honestly all true. What an excellent dining experience and quite affordable too (at least brunch was)! Highly recommend this place, whether or not you need a pick-me-up from an all night bender or just want a nice casual, but classy brunch. Definitely looking forward to returning here again!
